A Guide to Vegas Happy Hours

Las Vegas has a reputation for being expensive, and it can be – but happy hour is the great equalizer. Across the Strip and downtown, restaurants and bars roll out discounted bites and drinks during off-peak hours, and knowing how to work them changes your whole trip budget.

When Happy Hour Happens

The classic window falls in the late afternoon, roughly between the lunch and dinner rushes. Many spots also run a late-night happy hour after the dinner crowd thins out, which is a favorite trick of ours for a low-key end to the evening.

How We Make the Most of It

  • Check the timing before you go, since windows are often short and vary by day.
  • Ask whether deals apply at the bar only or at tables too – it is frequently bar-only.
  • Order a few small plates to turn happy hour into a casual, affordable dinner.

Where to Look

Steakhouses and upscale restaurants often have some of the best-value happy hours, letting you sample a pricey room at a fraction of the dinner cost. Downtown tends to run friendlier prices than the Strip across the board.

Our Advice

Treat happy hour as a strategy, not an afterthought. We often build an early-evening stop into our plans, enjoy a relaxed drink and a snack, then head off to the next thing. It is one of the easiest ways to live well in Vegas without overspending.
