One of the questions we hear most is whether you need a car in Las Vegas. For most visitors sticking to the Strip and downtown, the answer is no. Parking, traffic, and the sheer walkability of the core make a car more hassle than help.
Walking Gets You Further Than You Think
Many of the big resorts are connected by walkways, bridges, and shared spaces. If your plans center on the Strip, you can reach a surprising amount on foot. Just remember the distances are longer than they look and the heat is real, so pace yourself and hydrate.
The Deuce and the Monorail
When your feet give out, public transit picks up the slack. The Deuce is a double-decker bus that runs up and down the Strip and connects to downtown, which makes it handy for longer hops. The monorail runs along the east side of the Strip and is quick for skipping several resorts at once.
Rideshare and Taxis
- Rideshare apps work well and are easy for late nights.
- Taxis line up outside nearly every major hotel.
- Look for designated pickup zones, which are sometimes tucked away from the main entrance.
Our Take
We usually mix it all together – walk when it is pleasant, grab the Deuce or monorail for longer stretches, and call a rideshare when we are tired or heading off-Strip. Skip the rental unless you plan to explore the wider desert or take a day trip.
