Found in Vegas Pai Gow Poker strategy card

In Pai Gow Poker you split seven cards into a 5-card “back” hand and a 2-card “front” hand. The goal: make the front as strong as possible without it outranking the back.

The strategy

  • No pair: highest card in back, next two in front.
  • One pair: pair in back, two highest singles in front.
  • Two pair: split — lower pair in front (keep together only if both are low and you hold an Ace for the front).
  • Three pair: highest pair in front. Trips: keep in back (trip Aces → split).
  • Straight / flush / full house: keep in back, two highest in front (full house → play the pair in front).

The house edge

Played the house way, the edge is about 2.5% (there’s a 5% commission on winning hands). You must win both hands to win the bet; win one and lose one is a push.
