Vegas Weather: What to Expect Month by Month

Las Vegas sits in the Mojave Desert, which means low humidity, plenty of sunshine, and big temperature swings between day and night. Knowing what each stretch of the year feels like helps you pack smart and plan your days.

Winter: December to February

These are the coolest months. Days are mild and pleasant, but nights turn genuinely cold, especially in December and January. Bring a real jacket if you plan to be out after dark. The upside is comfortable daytime walking and clear skies.

Spring: March to May

Spring is arguably the most comfortable season. March can still be cool, but by May the warmth arrives and pools open up. This is a lovely window for spending time outdoors before the extreme heat sets in.

Summer: June to August

This is the hot season, and we do not sugarcoat it. Afternoons regularly climb into the triple digits, and the sun is intense. Plan outdoor activities for the morning or evening, stay hydrated, and lean into pool time and air-conditioned interiors.

Fall: September to November

September can still be quite warm, but by October and November the heat eases into that ideal warm-day, cool-night pattern we love.

Quick Tips

  • Always pack sunscreen, no matter the month.
  • Carry water year-round – the dry air is deceptive.
  • Bring layers for cool evenings, even in summer.
