Vegas Buffets: Are They Still Worth It?

For decades, the buffet was Vegas shorthand for abundance: mountains of crab legs, endless prime rib, one price. The scene has thinned out and prices have climbed, so the honest question is whether the buffet still earns its spot on your itinerary.

The case for

When it’s done right, a top-tier buffet is still one of the best-value meals in town — especially at brunch, and especially if you actually eat like you mean it. The variety lets a whole group with different cravings sit down happy.

The case against

Prices at the premium buffets now rival a sit-down restaurant, and quantity isn’t quality. If you’re a light eater, you’ll almost always spend less à la carte.

Our verdict

  • Go for weekend brunch, not a random weekday dinner.
  • Arrive hungry and pace yourself — it’s a marathon.
  • Skip the fillers (bread, pasta) and chase the good stuff.

Still worth it? Once per trip, at the right buffet, absolutely. As a nightly habit, those days are gone.
